[Bible story] What is a church?

"But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things chall be added to you." <Mattherw 6:33>

God is our Father, if we believe in Jesus.
God listens to what we say.
Our Father in heaven answers us.


God wants us to ask Him for the things we need.
We need food and clothes and a house to live in.
These things are important.
But there is something much more important.


One day, Jesus climbed a green hill with His disciples.
He sat down on the grass and called His disciples to come and sit close around Him.


Birds were singing.
Some were catching insects in the air.
Some were running on the ground, looking for worms and bugs.
Little flowers lifted pretty faces in the green grass.

I'm beginning by asking the question.
Do you remember God?
How great God is! How very holy He is!
God is almighty. God sees everything.
God knows everything at the same time.


God is so very great and holy.
We are so small and sinful.
But God is merciful, He's a loving God.


When we pray, we talk to God, and He listens.
Oh! That's wonderful!


God the Father is Jesus' Father as well as our Father.
Jesus is God's very special Son.
When Jesus was upon the earth, He prayed to His Father very often.

[Bible book] Who helps You?

Let me begin by asking you a few questions:
Do you know about God?
Do you know about Jesus?
Do you know about the Holy Spirit?


Jesus said that He would "abide" in us.
That is the Holy Spirit.
Jesus also sent the Holy Spirit to live in us.
It is especially God the Holy Spirit who helps us to be good.
The Holy Spirit tells us what we need to do.


Paul, the missionary, went to many cities to tell people the story about Jesus, went to an area called Galatia.
And many people in Galatia believed the gospel.


They became Christians.
Then, of course, they wanted to live for God.
But after a while, when Paul was gone, the people of Galatia began to quarrel and argue.

He gives us many blessings every day.


God has given you people to love you and take care of you.
God has given us our home.
He gives us good food and all the things.
God gives us all we need. And He supplies every need.

[Bible story] God gave His son for you

"Not one of them does what is right, not a single one." <Psalms 53:3>

Are you a good man? Are you a good woman?
Are you a good father or mother?
Are you a good minister? Are you a good  friend?


It's nice to be a good woman or a good man, isn't it?
When you are good, you are happy, you can sing, you can skip and play.
But when you have been naughty, everybody is sad.
Mother is sad, Daddy is sad, your wife is sad, your husband is sad.
God is sad. Happiness is all gone.


Then why aren't you good all the time?
Well, it's hard to be good all the time.
Even grown-ups are not good all the time.


Why is it so hard to be good?


Listen to me!
It is hard because we have sin in our hearts.

And we must live for God because we belong to Him.
We must live to please God.
We must live the way God wants us to live, because we belong to God.


Now, my friends!
God has told us how we must live. So, God gave His law.


God's law tells us what we must do, and God's law tells us what we must not do.
God's law tells us what kind of people His children.

How sin came into the world?

"Whoever sins is guilty of breaking God's law." <I John 3:4>

The question I ask is:
Who made this world?
Well, we know that God made the heavens and the earth.


And when God made the world, God made everything beautiful and good.
The first people, Adam and Eve, were so happy.
But oh, how many things are not beautiful and good any more!


People now are so unhappy.
There is sickness, sadness, hatred and anger, war and strife.
There are selfish people, and wicked people, quarreling and fighting.


What is the matter?
What has happened to this beautiful world?
What has happened to the people that were so happy at the very first?
Well, sin has come into the world.

You must have a new hope

"Blessed are you when men will cast insults at you and persecute you." (Matthew 5:11)

God's children are really very happy people, because they know that Jesus loves them.
But sometimes God's children have to suffer for the sake of the Lord Jesus.
Very many of God's people have suffered for Jesus' sake and some have even been martyred and killed.


After Jesus had gone to Heaven.
His disciples began to tell people how Jesus died for their sins.
Many people began to believe in Jesus Christ.
They became Christians.


In the book of Acts we read of Stephen.
He was a fine young man.
He heard the disciples tell the story of Jesus, and he became a believer.
Stephen loved Jesus. The Holy Spirit filled Stephen's heart so much that he loved the Lord so very much.

You must think about God

"Think of Jesus, whom God sent to be the high priest of the faith we profess." <Hebrew 3:1>

Let me ask you a question:
Have you heard about David, the shepherd boy of the Old Testament?
The Bible tells us about David.
He took care of his Father's sheep when he was just a boy.


David would take the sheep far from home, in order to find green grass for them to feed on.
Sometimes he took them to a green valley between with hills.
And He watched over his sheep all day.


When they were thirsty, he led them to still waters in order to get a drink.
He always watched to see that there would be no bears, no lions nearby, any animal that would catch a sheep or a lamb in order to kill them.

Sometimes, when the sheep rested, David had time to sit down.
Then he would take his little harp and begin to play.

You must obey God

"To obey is better than sacrifice." (I Samuel 15:22)

The Bible tells us about a king named Saul.
He was the king of God's people, the Israelites.
He was a big, tall man. He was brave, as well. He was a good soldier.
The people were happy when God made him king.


One day, Samuel, God's prophet, said to Saul,
"God wants you to go and fight against the Amalekite people.
They have been wicked and cruel.
When you win the battle, you must not keep any of the sheep or the camels or the other animals. You must kill them all."


Saul called his soldiers together, and they went away to war.
God used Saul to punish these wicked people of Amalek.
Saul and his soldiers won the battle, and they were very happy.


But at night God spoke to Samuel.
God said, "Saul did not obey Me."

You must love one another

"Love one another, even as I have loved you." (John 15:12)

Let me ask you.
Who is the person that you respect more than anyone else?
Who has loved you more than anyone else in your life?
Who is your favorite relative, aunt or uncle, or cousin?
When you were playing a game, did you ever say, "O, me first, me first" ?


Of course, you know that's not nice to say.
Now, why is it not good and nice to say, "Me first?"
The reason is because, when you say, "Me first!" you are being selfish.
You are loving yourself first and the best.


And it is not right.
It is naughty to be selfish and self-centered to love yourself more than others.


My friend!
God says we must love Him first and foremost.

You must be born again

"Expect a man to be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God." (John 3:3)

Do you remember your birthday?
Boys and girls like their birthdays.
Your birthday is a happy day.


You are glad to be a year older.
Your parents remember when you were born.
They were so happy on your birthday.


Bout did you ever think that you must be born again?
Jesus said so, "You must be born again."


There was a man named Nicodemus, he came to Jesus one night.
He wanted to talk to JEsus about God.
And he wanted to talk to Jesus about God's Kingdom.


Jesus said to Nicodemus,
"No man can see the Kingdom of God unless he is born again." Nicodemus thought that was a strange thing to say.

You must know the way

We need to understand that God is living.
He is the creator. Our God is love and He is a God of love.
God is holy, and very great. Our God is high above us.


We are small, many times even sinful. We are not good.
We often disobey God. We go our won way.
But our God calls us to be His children!


How can we become God's children?
Jesus once told a story about a young man who went away from home.
He had such a beautiful and wonderful home, but he was not happy there.
He did not love his father.


One day, the young man said to his father, "Give me all that will be mine after you die."
